Hiking With Jake

This year I was blessed with a beautiful, healthy son. I have now been blessed by sharing one of my favorite places with him. Jacob can not walk but he has been hiking. I hope to share more time like this with him, I hope he will one day take his son up to the Uinta Mountains.  Here are some pics all photos taken by Grandpa Ron.

I believe that it is not about what you acquire in the journey, nor the ease or difficulty of the journey, but the ones you make it with and the times you have together.

Let me show you my Church

I would like to take a moment to share my version of church and how I view the Divine.

On the way to Island Lake on the Provo River Drainage.

Some might say I have a sickness, I hike despite being out of shape and it taking its toll on my body, but really it is a deep spiritual connection with the Uinta Mountains.
My church does not need to advertise only be discovered by all who seek its beauty. Some folks look for God in buildings and books written long ago, while I truly understand and respect those people, I prefer my worship out here where you can see the work of the Great Creator first hand.  There is a spirit and energy here that you can not find anywhere else.  I look forward to going to more religious sites and to taking all who want to go with me.
Amen and Party On!!!

Finally Understading Old Wisdom

When I was younger my Grandfather passed on some life wisdom to me. At the time I listened to his words and even though I was able to reach an understanding of what he was trying to tell me it did not truly sink in until just recently. Although I do not remember word for word how he told it I would like to pass it on as best I can here.

Love is an amazing thing. It can always find a way to grow and evolve. When you are a child and you are surrounded by your parents, grandparents, and siblings, you feel your heart and world is full of love. As you grow up and get out into the world you meet a special someone. As you begin to court this person and find that you want to spend your life with them you soon realize that love has grown by just that much. As you get to know this person and their family you will find love grows in your heart to allow this person and their family to be loved by you. You will go along like this and think your heart is so full that it seems it could not grow any further, then one day... You find out your going to be a father. You may worry that you do not have enough love to include this new person but once you see them for the first time you will know there should never have been a doubt. You will find with each child it will be the same and each time love will grow. When your kids grow and they meet special people and start having children of their own, you guessed it love will include each and every one of them. One day you should consider yourself lucky if you can sit back and find yourself in a room full of those you love.

I know as my Grandpa grew older his greatest joy in life was sitting in a room full of his loved ones. I also think his greatest legacy was teaching us how to love whole heartedly.

On January 22, 2014 I finally gained a full understanding of his words and his message. I looked into Jacob's eyes and found love had indeed become that much larger in my heart. So I pass this on to all my loved ones and hope I can pass this on in my actions as well as my words.

So to all those I love, let love ever grow in your hearts and as always PARTY ON!!!

Jacob Quentin

To my son,

Jacob, you arrived January 22, 2014 at 1:29 PM. You weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces and were 20 inches long. For someone so small you have already made a big impact, not with just your Mom and Dad, but to a whole family.  I am writing this at 10:30 PM on the 23rd, I have just made it home from a visit with you and your Mom in the hospital, your Scotties, Skye and Argyle are chewing at my feet.

Now that the scene has been set I can tell you more about your impact with a family. Before your arrival  we as a family had seen a lot of loss, your Mom and I  had been waiting, trying, and praying for almost two years to bring you to this world. It often felt like we were just not going to luck out, and then, one day your Mom came into the room still holding the test and said, "I am pregnant". Instantly the world changed for us. All seamed new and hopeful, and we could see our hopes and dreams for us and for you coming to light.

I want you to know the sheer amount of joy you brought with you by coming into this world. As the family prepped for your arrival I could see the joy come across the faces of everyone as we talked about you. The day of your birth your Mom and I got her checked into the hospital and they immediately started prepping her for the C-Section delivery. As the nurses began their work more of your loving family began to arrive until the little room was full. In that room despite my nerves being pretty rattled I could look around and feel a room full of love.  The nurses came in and took your Mom back for the final prep. A nurse came back in after about 20 minutes and walked me back into the operating room. Once we were back there it was not long before we heard your little cry for the first time.

Once all was done they handed you over to your Mom and wheeled the two of you back to the waiting crowd of eager grandparents, aunts and an uncle. Immediately you could feel the collective love and joy of a family who had known so much loss and now could feel such happiness.

So my son you are very wanted, very loved, and quite a miracle. You have so many who love you and every one of them will gladly give you a piece of themselves.  You are given a special place in the  hearts of many.  As for me I can only make this promise... I will always love you and will always strive to be my best for you and your Mom. I know I will make some mistakes but I want you to know the three of us are in this together and we will learn all this together one step at a time. But always remember my son you are loved and have a whole family who will be there to catch you and your parents when we fall.

All my love JQ, Joni Rose, and our amazing family members.  As Always PARTY ON!!!
